Alpro Soya Case Study

Print Solutions

“Datatrade ( A Renovotec Group Company ) has provided an excellent service. Its flexible approach, wealth of technical knowledge and high level contacts with major printer manufacturers has made it a pleasure dealing with the company,” logistics supply chain manager, Alpro UK

The Client

Created in 1980, the Alpro company is now Europe’s market leader in soya food products, turning over in excess of €250million a year. It is part of the Belgian Vandemoortele food group. Alpro produces the flagship brand Alpro Soya and the organic range Provamel. Since the company began, it has championed sustainable production processes that conserve the soya bean’s unique nutritional values. Alpro prides itself on high quality and has a traceability system from farm to retailer that is independently approved and monitored.

The Business Challenge

Alpro has three production plants, in Belgium, in France and one in Northamptonshire, England. The UK factory was built in 2000 and seven years later the company reviewed its warehouse operation and commissioned a refit to simplify stock inventory and improve automation. The warehouse management system was given a refresh and new thermal label printers were ordered, Datatrade was called in to both supply and maintain the printers.

The Business Solution

Datatrade worked with the IT team both in the UK and Belgium to assist in the smooth transition of the new hardware (thermal printers and scanners) alongside the new ERP warehousing system. In addition to supplying and maintaining the printers and scanners Datatrade is also managing the applicators on the production lines. Datatrade has provided new racking labels for the entire Alpro UK warehouse to help verify locations, stock and give an optimal product usage analyst.

The Business Benefits

Alpro has a strong ethical philosophy and cares a great deal about where its soya beans come from and ensuring its products are manufactured and distributed in the most sustainable and least environmentally impacting way. Crucial to that quality control and traceability is an effective, efficient warehouse management system.
