Wing Yip × Renovotec
“Over the past five years, as we’ve expanded our business, working with Renovotec has reduced the frustration of having multiple MSPs. They are that single point we can go to for any help and support – and we know we’ll be very well looked after.”
Tony Ritson, Group IT Manager, Wing Yip plc
Overview
Wing Yip plc is a family owned business, established in 1970, operating multiple retail locations across the UK. As the business has grown, Wing Yip has continued to evolve its retail and operational model, including the development of new store concepts.
As part of this growth, the company recognised the need to modernise and simplify its in-store technology, particularly in relation to handheld devices, networking and in store systems.
It needed a technology partner that could operate as an extension of its internal IT team and support future expansion plans. Renovotec was excited to be selected as Wing Yip’s partner as the company began developing new concepts, including their DiDi stores.
The Challenge
As Wing Yip expanded its stores, its IT environment had become increasingly complex. The business was working with multiple managed service providers (MSPs), each responsible for different technologies and services, which made support and management more difficult.
Wing Yip also needed to replace its handheld scanners, ensuring any new devices would integrate smoothly with its existing systems. Beyond handheld technology, the business required reliable in store Wi Fi and network infrastructure to support daily operations.
The challenge was not only to select the right technology but also to consolidate suppliers into a more streamlined, reliable support model that could scale with the business.
The Solution
Working in partnership with Wing Yip, Renovotec provided an end to end approach to device selection, infrastructure management and ongoing support.
Device Replacement and Deployment
The partnership initially began when Wing Yip was looking to replace its handheld scanners. Renovotec, supported by its own repair centre, worked with Wing Yip to fully understand requirements and identify which handheld scanner would meet their needs and work best with the existing systems.
This made the solution straightforward to implement and roll out across the business.
Consolidating Service Providers
Wing Yip moved from working with multiple service providers to a single, consolidated model with Renovotec. Renovotec took responsibility not only for the handheld scanners but also for managing and supporting the Wi Fi and wider network infrastructure.
This created a one stop shop for support, allowing Wing Yip to raise issues through a single point of contact, whether related to handheld devices or the underlying network.
Supporting In Store Technology
Beyond scanners and infrastructure, Renovotec also supported the deployment of additional in store technologies, including:
- VoCoVo headsets for team collaboration
- SATO FX3 label printers for hot food
- Solu-M electronic shelf edge labels for posters and pricing in Wing Yip’s Watford store
Ongoing Support and Partnership
Renovotec continues to support Wing Yip as the business grows. The team is trusted to manage and look after the technology environment from the ground up, providing reassurance that systems will be supported as new stores and concepts are introduced.
Having a single partner has reduced the complexity and frustration previously caused by managing multiple MSPs, allowing Wing Yip’s IT team to focus on supporting the wider business.
